This monumental installation, No.1367 Mesh, crafted specifically for our historic staircase, features Begum’s iconic colourful mesh clusters (often referred to as ‘clouds’). Each unique configuration brings vibrant colour and organic forms to the 18th-century townhouse, blending history and contemporary art. The gridded material spills over the landing balcony and through the middle of the staircase, allowing visitors to experience the artwork from multiple angles.

Spanning Nicholson’s entire career, this landmark show reveals the breadth of his artistic vision – from world-renowned still lifes, insightful portraits and evocative landscapes to his poster designs and playful book illustrations. Highlights include the bold posters he produced with his brother-in-law James Pryde as ‘J. & W. Beggarstaff’, his celebrated woodcuts from An Alphabet (1898), original illustrations for The Velveteen Rabbit, works created during travels to India, and poignant wartime paintings, as well as his glittering still lifes, which showcase his mastery of light and texture.

Explore the beauty, strength, and unseen labour of childcare in the powerful exhibition, Caroline Walker: Mothering. Celebrated for her luminous brushwork and moving depictions of women’s lives, Walker transforms everyday acts of care into striking scenes. From maternity wards to nurseries, her paintings reveal the tenderness, intensity and resilience of motherhood and the often-unacknowledged work that shapes our society.

For over twenty years, the Community Programme has been at the heart of our mission to make Pallant House Gallery accessible to all. Supporting more than 200 people from our local community, the programme offers long-term, meaningful creative opportunities for those with a range of support needs and disabilities. This new exhibition celebrates the creativity and individuality of our Community members. Each artwork on display has been generously donated by the artist to help sustain the programme that has supported their creative journeys. Together, the works reflect the artistic diversity which makes the Community Programme so distinctive.

This is a co-curated exhibition developed by students in Years 10–12 at Thomas Bennett Community College, Crawley, in collaboration with Pallant House Gallery. Choosing works from the Gallery’s collection, the students explored ideas of identity and belonging, asking fundamental questions about who we are, where we come from, and how we relate to the world around us. The display brings together a diverse range of styles and media by artists including Henry Moore, Victor Willing, Ana Maria Pacheco, Celia Paul and Hurvin Anderson.
