Annual School Competition - A Tale of Twinned Cities
Chapter 2: Textiles
Schools in Chartres and Chichester are invited to take part in the Third Schools Art Competition organised by the Friends of Chartres and Pallant House Gallery
The focus this year will be on textiles, inspired by the Piper Tapestry at Chichester Cathedral and the strong tradition of tapestry and stitch work in France including, the Bayeux Tapestry and the Lion and the Unicorn tapestries at the Musée Cluny in Paris.
We are encouraging children from Year 4 to Year 8, to create their own textile based artwork on the theme of the four elements; air, earth, fire and water. These could be inspired by local traditions and natural landscapes. Schools can use as wide an interpretation of the textile processes as they wish for their entries, including the use of weaving, tapestry, stitch work, appliqué and embroidery
A special trophy will be awarded to the school judged to have produced the best work and there will also be prizes for pupils taking part.
Please either download or contact the organisers for details and an application form.
